Jaeger-LeCoultre supports the restoration of vintage Chinese films. The close partnership between Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Shanghai International Film Festival began in 2011, and six films have been restored since then. As an official partner of the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre is hosting a press conference and organizing an auction gala and reception at the Shanghai Film Museum on the opening night of the festival to benefit the continued growth of the Chinese film industry. At present, Jaeger-LeCoultre has contributed to the restoration of nine Chinese cinema classics that include both parts of Yi Jiang Chun Shui Xiang Dong Liu (The Spring River Flows East), Ba Qian Li Lu Yun He Yue (Eight Thousand Li of Cloud and Moon), Shi Zi Jie Tou (Crossroads), Wu Ya Yu Ma Que (Crows and Sparrows), Li Ren Xing (Three Girls), Wan Jia Teng Huo (The Thousand Lights), Wo Zhe Yi Bei Zi (My This Lifetime) and Wu Tai Jie Mei (Two Stage Sisters).
On the opening night of the festival, the Shanghai Film Museum will scintillate as esteemed guests from China and abroad arrive at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s benefit auction to show their support for the restoration of Chinese cinema classics. Auction specialists from Christie’s auction house will host this deeply meaningful auction. Up for bid will be Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Duomètre Unique Travel Time watch with “SIFF 2014” engraved on the side of the case. The dual-wing watch affords ease of access to world time zones and features a rose gold case. The first watch in the world to offer the precision of a minute-hand indicator for the time in a secondary time zone, the Duomètre dual-wing series is perfection itself, providing travelling watch aficionados with an unprecedented experience.
Gracing the red carpet at the festival and wearing Jaeger-LeCoultre’s luxurious jewellery and complication watches will be the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand ambassador Zhao Wei, the world-renowned French film director Jean-Jacques Annaud, the action film master John Woo, notable mainland Chinese actors Feng Shaofeng, Shawn Dou, Guo Tao, Gao Yunxiang, actresses Dong Xuan, Liu Tao, director Wang Yuelun, Hong Kong actresses Michelle Ye, Annie Liu, Taiwanese actresses Ady An, actors Joe Cheng, Kai Ko. More than 200 members of the domestic and international press and more than 300 esteemed guests will attend the Jaeger-LeCoultre evening gala.
All proceeds from the event will be used to support the restoration of Chinese cinema classics and all of the films that have been restored under this program will be shown at the 2014 Shanghai International Film Festival, part of the series entitled “Chines Film Masterpieces Restored by Jaeger-LeCoultre“.
