While $18,75 million Lincoln Park estate waits for its buyer to become Chicago’s most expensive single family home, this Co-op at Lake Shore Drive in Chicago sold for $7,4 million late last month, and thus won the title for the most expensive home sale in the Windy City this year. According to Curbed, this is the highest price any home has sold for in the city since December last year when a home sold for $9,04 million in Lincoln Park.
The home was first listed in February 2007 for $9,2 million right before the housing crash and nine months later it was de-listed. In January, this year, the home returned on the market for $7,9 million and sold on June 26th for $500,000 less at $7.4 million.
Luxury 5,700 square foot unit at 209 East Lake Shore Drive has three bedrooms and four bathrooms with crown moldings, carpets and hardwood flooring and drywall ceilings along with large glass windows throughout. Perching on the 11th floor of the building, the home has panoramic views of the city and the bay. The co-op was listed with James Kinney of Baird & Warner, who described it: “It’s beautifully done, designer-decorated, and it went fairly quick.”
The home also has a library with a fireplace, an exercise room and a laundry. The Co-op provides for a two-car parking garage and allows for transferable lease as well.
