You have the problem with the heat? You’re not the only one, Dubai understand that problem, so Dubai’s ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum announces plans to build no less then world’s first temperature-controlled city. The emirate which has already earned a reputation for pushing the boundaries with its architecture, tall buildings, unusual luxury hotels will now boasts 48 million square-foot climate-controlled pedistrian city.
Called Mall the of the World, this unique complex will feature the world’s largest theme park, more than 100 hotels and apartments, “wellness district”, a shopping area based on London’s Oxford Street and theatre district modelled around Broadway in New York, as well as parking lots for 50,000 cars. The city will be divided into districts that will be connected via promenades that stretch almost 4.5 miles long.
The promenades will be covered with glass and will be air-conditioned during the summers. The authorities plan to keep the promenades open during the winters, thus ensuring pleasant temperatures all year long.
While the cost and timeline for construction were not provided at this weekend’s press conference by the project’s developer, Dubai Holding, nevertheless they estimated that the new city would draw about 180 million people each year.
