There’s no better way to explore Russia’s most iconic and famous places than onboard the Scenic Tsar through 15 day cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow. This unforgettable journey will allow travelers to experience Russia’s diverse landscapes, peppered with ancient fortresses, palaces, churches and wooden villages. First five days are reserved for the historical and colourful city of St. Petersburg, since there’s a lot of magnificent places to visit: St. Isaac’s Cathedral with its huge gilded dome, he baroque Winter Palace and Alexander Column in Palace Square, the Hermitage – formerly the Winter Palace and home of the Tsars (today it houses one of the world’s greatest art collections), the Peter and Paul Fortress where Peter the Great and all the Russian emperors and empresses are buried, Catherine’s Palace, the 19th-century Yusupov Palace, where Prince Yusupov murdered Grigory Rasputin, all accompanied with relaxing lunches in exquisite local restaurants.
After that, guests will arrive in the village of Svirstroy, between Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega and then tour the port city of Petrozavodsk and learn about the Soviet era at Kirov Square, Gagarin Square, and Lenin Square, where you’ll stop at the World War II memorial of the eternal flame.
Eighth day, the ship docks at Kizhi Island, one of the most ancient inhabited sites in Russia, where you’ll also view the Church of Transfiguration, with its 22 timbered onion domes. Following day, you’ll tour the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery at the medieval village of Goritsy. Walking tour of historic Uglich, part of the Golden Ring of cities around Moscow is planned for tenth day.
Too meet all beauty of Moscow, you’ll need at least five days. You’ll set out on an exploration which includes Red Square, Tverskaya street, the KGB building and a ride on Moscow’s Metro – considered one of the best subway systems in the world. Next morning you’ll travel to the Cosmonaut Training Centre at Star City and in the evening attend the internationally acclaimed Moscow Circus. The thirthteen day starts with expansive views of Moscow from the Sparrow Hills. Then visit Novodevichy Cemetery, where Anton Chekhov and former President Boris Yeltsin are buried.
The penultimate day is reserved for the tour ofKremlin, seat of the former Soviet Union’s intrigue. In the State Armory, you’ll see priceless weaponry, jewels, Fabergé eggs and ceremonial robes, while in the evening you’ll witness a thrilling National Russian Show performed by fifty folk dancers. Last day after breakfast is time to farewell your fellow passengers and disembark the cruise.
