Jazz Minute Repeater is Ulysse Nardin‘s new model. Swiss watch manufacturer with 168 years of history and one of the first haute horology brand to fuel the minute repeaters rebirth, Ulysse Nardin used combination of traditional watch making with the fine art of hand-engraved Jaquemarts to create “Jazz”. As the name suggested, the watch is a tribute to the musical genre of jazz, a vivacious and complex type of music that is not clearly defined, and certainly not constrained.
At the Jazz Minute Repeater 18 carat gold figurines (musicians) were applied on a genuine black onyx dial, depicting the performance of a music band on stage. Each of the six figures is hand-carved in 18 ct gold. When the minute repeater lever is activated, the monkey begins interfering in the ballgame of the clown; this movement indicates the hour chiming. The trainer with the whip reaches out to the tiger, indicating the quarters. The tiger stretches its paw, indicating the minutes.
The bear bows in front of the ballet dancer while the chiming mechanism is activated.
A limited-edition of 18 pieces in platinum, Jazz delivers a vivid design performance of this genre’s unmatched dynamism.
