Alexander Wang recently teamed up with leading Australian surfboard brand Haydenshapes to create five marble surfboards to outfit his New York SoHo flagship store. The installation includes a limited series of five hand-crafted surfboards suspended from a black metal cage wall with a large, monolithic swooping black wave sculpted from black sand. #TheCage22, as the installation is named is completed with accessories such as leather satchels and some of the brand’s top selling items. Photographs of unique marble slabs were digitally printed onto silk then onto the boards to create one of a kind designs.
“This installation has a good sense of authenticity about it,” explained Haydenshapes’s founder Hayden Cox.
The surfboards are the award-winning Hypto Krypto model, which was recently awarded Surfboard of the Year by the Australian Surf and Board Sports Industry Association.
