The Portland, OR-based company Grovemade best known for it’s signature line of cases wrapped in warm luxurious wood has now came up with something completely new and different. The all new Black Dock is a limited edition, all-metal version of their beloved Dock for iPhone.
“The Black Dock is the first product we’ve introduced to our collections that does not include any of our signature materials,” said Grovemade’s co-founder Ken Tomita. “As craftsmen, we enjoy working with new materials and creating something completely unexpected that is in line with our design values and principles.”
The aluminum cap is protected with a special matte black coating. More durable than anodizing, it’s the same coating used on premium knife blades. The solid steel or brass base combined with the metal cap weighs over three pounds and allows you to plug and unplug your phone using only one hand.
The Black Dock is designed for iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S + 5C, and weighs 3 pounds. Only 50 pieces in the brass base, 100 pieces in the silver base, and 100 pieces in the black base will be available. Pricing for the black or silver base is set at $120, and the dock featuring brass is priced at $150.
