The now already former Italian company De Tomaso, which produced exotic sports cars, and in addition to the Pantera, which is the best known, is responsible for a fairly rare model Mangusta. Although the Italian company De Tomaso is best known for its Pantera sports car, no less interesting nor its model Mangusta (Mongoose in Italian), which was once, at the late 60s, seriously “tortured” the most famous brands, like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.
During all five years of production from 1966 to 1971, have been made a total of 401 copies, of which as many as 250 models finished in the territory of the United States. One of these copies, produced in 1969 will be offered on sale, on the 30th of August, and estimated value ranges from $350,000 to $400,000. The Mangusta is second model of the company, De Tomaso, the first was Vallelunga, but the first that was made in a large number of copies, behind whose design is Giorgetto Giugiaro and the famous house Ghia.
The car runs Ford’s 4.9-liter V8 engine with 221Hp, coupled with ZF’s 5-speed manual transmission. There is a version with a 4.7-liter engine, intended mainly to European market which is more powerful and generates 306Hp This model has a whole supporting documentation, as well as almost all “documents” related to maintenance in the past 45 years.
