Dogs and cats will get their own dedicated channel on British Airways long-haul flights from September. Paws & Relax is a dedicated channel starring cats, kittens, dogs and puppies to provide entertainment for young and old passangers. British Airways’ in-flight entertainment manager, Richard D’Cruze, said: “It might sound barking, but there’s lots of research to suggest that watching pets can enhance overall wellbeing. We have sniffed out some fantastic content that is cute, comforting and sure to appeal to travellers of all ages.”
The channel is part of British Airways’ “Slow TV,” which includes programming that helps flyers relax while traveling. The channel will include a variety of programming selected by content marketing agency Spafax, which “focuses on engaging the consumer in transit.” The shows for the British Airways launch include Simon’s Cat about a man and his cat, America’s Cutest Dog, which includes lots of adorable canines and The Secret Life of Cats, which follows house cats’ adventures.
To launch the channel, British Airways teamed up with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to highlight some animals that are looking for homes including Alfie the pug, Karma the kitten and more! Battersea Dogs & Cats Home cares for almost 10,000 dogs and cats each year.
Paws & Relax can be found in the entertainment section of the airline’s in-flight library starting in September.
