Patron Spirits unveils Roca Patron – the company’s first line of 100% tahona-milled tequila. With this new Roca Patron line of premium tequila (Roca is “Rock” on Spanish), Patron payed homage to centuries-old process, where the stone wheel (or tahona) was traditionally used to crush cooked agave in the production of tequila. The new Roca Patron family consists of Roca Patron Silver, Roca Patron Reposado, and Roca Patron Anejo.
Made from 100 percent Weber Blue Agave, each tequila is traditionally made at a specific proof, higher than the core line of Patron tequilas (traditional Patron is 80 proof or 40% ABV, while the Roca Patron range from 84 proof or 42% ABV all the way up to 90 proof or 45% ABV).
The aged variants are rested in single-use American bourbon barrels Reposado for five months, Anejo for 14 months. This also differs from the core Patrón line, which are aged in a blend of new and used oak barrels.
The product itself will be immediately recognizable to those familiar with Patron’s well-known bottle. The suggested retail prices for the Roca Patron line of tequilas are $69.00 (750ml), $79.00 (750ml) and $89.00 (750ml).
With the launch of this Roca line, a selection of 100% agave tequilas made with the traditional tahona process, Patron is taking tequila back to its roots.
