A piece of cake from the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981 was sold at auction for 1,375 US dollars. A cake, that is in the original white and silver box, was sold via the Internet in Los Angeles, and on it is the original message that says: “with best wishes, Princess and Prince of Wales.” A spokesman of the auction house Sam Heller says that the buyer is a private collector and the cake got wrapped in the original paper of wax, however, added that it would not be a good idea for someone to try to eat it.
He reminds us that there is a small but dedicated group of collectors of royal cakes and some possess brownies, dating from the time of Queen Victoria, who married in 1840.
