Richard Mille introduces its newest watch, the RM 011 Automatic Flyback Chronograph “Black Phantom.” Combining two new high-tech materials TZP ceramic and NTPT carbon in the deepest shade of black, new timepiece is quickly becoming an icon of the Richard Mille collection. Black TZP ceramic is extremely resistant to scratches while not being brittle. For this watch, the material is blasted to give it a matte finish, and then used to form the front and back bezels of the timepiece’s tripartite case. A caseband, crown and pushers are crafted from NTPT – a material used in the aerospace industry and Formula 1 racecar design.
NTPT carbon is incredibly strong and light, and composed of multiple layers of parallel filaments obtained by dividing carbon fibers. These thin layers are impregnated with resin and then woven on a special machine that modifies the direction of the weft, creating a distinctive visual effect that is reminiscent of precious wood.
The hour indicators, counters, hands and flange, combine dark black elements with touches of white for a much more legible dial.
The main features of the RM 011 are back, including flyback chronograph, month display between 4 and 5 o’clock, oversize date display at 12 o’clock, annual calendar, 60-minute countdown timer, and 12-hour totalizer. It also houses a skeletonized automatic winding movement with a power reserve of 50 hours.
The Black Phantom comes on a black rubber strap with black DLC titanium buckle.
Exclusive to the U.S. and limited to just 50 pieces, the “Black Phantom” will be available at Richard Mille boutiques in Beverly Hills and Las Vegas, as well as select Richard Mille retailers.
