According to a new book, Darrell M. West, many billionaires give a lot of money to politicians. Others invest money in political campaigns and give it to charity. And some of them still think only of themselves and buy luxury homes and private islands. Sultan of Brunei’s wantonly spends money and even owns 7,000 cars. They have the largest homes and most valuable clothes, some of which could couse even Karl Lagerfeld’s jealousy.
In a new book – “Billionaires. Reflections on the Upper Crust“, Darrell M. West describes the unruly world of British billionaire and reveals what makes them so powerful. According to this book, it is not only money, but also politics.
“Wealth – its uses and abuses – is a subject that has intrigued me since my youth in the rural Midwest [of America],” explains West.
“The contrast between the poverty of my youth and the privilege of my adulthood makes me very attuned to the role wealthy people play in the United States and around the world.”
And wealthy affecting the entire world. From Russian oligarchs to industrialists, the Middle East and British tycoons, almost all rich people are spending equal amount of money for political purposes, the same as they spend on expensive yachts.
Material things are certainly important to these people, but they prefer to flaunt by donating and buying incredibly expensive stuff. The impression they left on the other, is much more important to them.
Some of them, such as Roman Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, who really like football, they bought the teams, while others are wasting on expensive dinners and giving millions of dollars in funds for the protection of pets.
Stanley Ho, a Hong Kong and Macanese business magnate, paid 330,000 pounds on the white truffle, and done that twice. Ho has been nicknamed “The King of Gambling”, reflecting the government-granted monopoly he held on the Macau gambling industry for 40 years. He isn’t the only one who throws it in such bizarre things.
One of the most insatiables is Sultan of Brunei who in addition to 7,000 cars also owns gold-plated Boeing 747 jumbo jet.
Some, like Bill Gates, consider that the rich people most of their wealth should give to charity.
According to this book, the largest number of billionaires actively involve itself in politics. One of them is Donald Trump, who is considered to be a candidate for president of the United States.
