City of Tehran, capital of Iran, wakes all sorts of associations, but here’s one that is not so common. This is the house where the rooms can be turned for 90 degrees, depending on the mood of the owner or time. Behind this smart and surprising Sharifi-ha House is an architectural studio Next Office based in Tehran. Why smart? The house has a motorized rotating boxes in which are placed rooms on three levels, which can be rotated up to 90 degrees, by pressing the button, depending on the mood of the owner or weather condition.
The building was completed last year and was inspired by the ancient Iranian villas that are traditionally built with the summer and winter living rooms. “Uncertainty and flexibility lie at the heart of the design concept of this project,” the designers said, adding that flexible design allows the house to be alternately “introvert or extrovert.”
