Newsreader of one Italian TV show, who managed to persuade Pope Francis to give him his white cap, manage to raise over €100,000 for charity thanks to it. Head of the satirical show program “Le Iena” (Hyena) arrived at the crack of dawn to the Vatican to be sure that he’ll be in the front row at one of the Pope’s regular communication with the public on St Peter’s Square. As it was later aired on the show, the announcer to break through the crowd and went to the Pope and offered him a new white hat.
The footage shows how Francis stopped his vehicle and examine the Zucchetto before took it in exchange for his. On Wednesday evening, Pope’s hat went at online auction and has already reached a price of 105,000 euros.
As reported by AFP, the money from the sale is for the Italian charity to help children in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
