Well-known patisserie chef Pierre Marcolini has joined up with French designer Olympia Le-Tann, whose the bags and clutches are hot property in the world of fashion. The result is two very special limited-edition boxes filled with either 17 of her favourite sweet treats or 12 handmade macarons.
Based on the book-shaped packaging for Le-Tan’s frequently sold-out, embroidered literary clutch bags, the bright pink boxes reflect her irreverent yet intellectual style. They come with cheeky messages: “Elles n’ont qu’un mot à la…” (Only one thing on her mind…) and “J’ai les yeux plus gros que la ventre” (I have bitten off more than I can chew.) With colorful designs and naive script, the boxes are filled with chocolates chosen by the designer herself, and macaroons from the maison Pierre Marcolini store.
“At first they wanted a drawing but I thought it would be more amusing to create an embroidery and then have that embroidery printed onto the boxes,” says Le-Tan.
Olympia Le-Tan for Pierre Marcolini boxes, available from 1st September at Selfridges and Marcolini.com; £35 ($56) for Olympia’s chocolate selection, £37 ($59) for a bespoke 30-piece chocolate selection, or £27 ($43) for 12 macarons.
