The future of speedboat could soon be changed forever with the new electric catamaran with hydrofoils which “flies” above the water without sound at a speed of 40km/h (25mph), and comes to us from the Slovenian company “Quadrofoil“. Quadrofoil uses hydrofoils that rise it above the water and produce thrust, which due to the very low resistance allows speeds of up to 40km/h with a nearly silent ride. The team of “Quadrofoil” consists of: Marjan Rozman, CEO and founder, Simon Pivec, Klemen Tavcar, design director, Milos Velimirovic, design and Ermin Kosovel, designer of the original concept, who described their vehicle as: “It’s exciting, but quietly and organically. ”
Its quiet electric motor emission-free allows sail on the lakes, sea and rivers, as well as eco-zones where other vehicles are not allowed.
This innovative vehicle has four hydrofoils which are designed to pull the vehicle at speeds above water and provide less resistance and thus higher speed. These hydrofoils are designed to easily pass through the water and direct the flow downwards, creating thrust throughout the vehicle. It is powered by an electric motor and will cost less than 80p ($1.3) an hour to run.
Quadrofoil is easy to manage, on the steering wheel you’ll find integrated “touch-screen” display, which shows the user how much battery is available, as well as current speed and range.
Full battery can keep the total range of 100km (62 miles), and the steering wheel is actually the key that after driving you can take off and carry with you.
The vehicle is made of composite materials and the total weighs only 100kg (220lbs), and although its creators claim that the boat “unsinkable”, is equipped with two life jackets, paddles and a whistle for rescue.
This vessel costs €22,500 (£17,586 or $28,144) and will be shipped in March next year.
