After an extensive 25-year restoration by its owner Leonard Fenton, the estate known as Artemesia was listed for sale in 2012 at $12 million. The 13,300-square-foot mansion in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood was built in 1913 by architect Frank A. Brown for the family of engineer Frederick E. Engstrum, whose father founded a major Southern California construction company. AJust a couple of owners later, Fenton bought the house in 1987 and has been restoring and modernizing ever since.
Nestled on a 1.79 acre lot in the hippest part of the Hollywood Hills, the house features seven bedrooms and baths. The living room is 40 feet long, the dining room seats forty for dinner, while the ballroom is the size of an average family home.
