Here is the perfect Christmas gift for all Twitter fans. Bloomingdale’s website is offering a 18-karat yellow gold ring with a 1 carat diamond hashtag. The ring was created by Khai Khai Jewelry, a New York-based label founded by Haim Medine, the older brother of fashion blogger Leandra Medine, known for the popular site Man Repeller. This piece of jewelry tailor-made for the social media age sells for $825. Khai Khai Jewelry sells all sorts of interesting and unique jewelry, including diamond earrings and a pendant emblazoned with the hashtag symbol (both $950).
The hashtag symbol is used to search for topics on Twitter. Hashtag campaigns have become a popular way for users to sound off on controversial issues. It’s a bit of irony since Bloomingdale’s is selling the ring at s time when Twitter is attempting to make it easier for users to buy items directly from tweets with a buy button.
