How many times it happened that your phone, tablet or iPod runs out of power? Tommy Hilfiger wants to help you out in these situations, so the designer brand has released jackets that are equipped solar panels, resulting in a wearable portable charger that still looks fashionable.
The clothing label teamed up with Pvilion, a company that specializes in harnessing solar power, to create a pair of jackets – one for men and one for women with an array of removable solar panels to charge a battery that connects to a cord in the pocket, which you can use to charge your portable devices.
A fully charged battery pack will be able to recharge a standard device requiring 1,500 mAh up to four times. On the men’s version, a single line of flexible, water-proof panels stretch across the shoulders, while ladies get a double stacked version over their backs.
Both jackets are available from the Tommy Hilfiger website and selected stores in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia, priced at $599 each. A half of the proceeds go to support The Fresh Air Fund, a program that helps send needly New York City boys to summer camps.
