Montblanc joins the list of traditional watch manufacturer who enter the smartwatch market. German brand has unveiled a new e-Strap that will feature on its Timewalker Urban Speed Collection. Its new band attaches to a traditional analogue watch, turning it into a smartwatch. Its 0.9-inch monochromatic OLED touchscreen with a 128×36 pixel resolution, sits on the underside of the wrist to display alerts and notifications. The band will vibrate every time an alert comes in.
New e-Strap pairs with both iOS and Android via Bluetooth, and there’s a companion app to take charge of settings. The battery lasts five days on a charge.
Announced before the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) 2015 watch trade show in Geneva, this new accessory will cost you €250 ($300). However, it is much cheaper than the watches it will support, since the many of Montblanc’s timepieces cost as much as $3,000.
