Restaurant “Clink” at HMP Cardiff, staffed only by the prisoners, was named the best restaurant in the city by the choice of TripAdvisor. Prison restaurant at HMP Cardiffgot the first place in the list of 946 restaurants of Welsh capital thanks to the votes of guests, who are mainly emphasized “the kindness and helpfulness of the staff” on which others can only envy. “Other objects in which we have been lately can’t reach the high standard of this restaurant,” wrote one satisfied customer.
Other gave to Clink maximum five stars with the comment: “The waiters are excellent, and the service is perfect – better than in many other fancy restaurants, always at your service.”
Klink, which can accommodate up to 96 guests, serves breakfast and lunch. Opened in 2012, it has 30 waiters-prisoners who are paid 14 pounds for 40 hours of work per week.
Prisoners working in the restaurant are at the practice and upon release from prison they will get a diploma – national catering qualifications, that allows them to work in the hospitality industry.
“Our team is excited to be at the head of the list TopAdvisora and we were able to overtake nearly 1,000 other restaurants,” said Jason Lawrence, general manager at The Clink Restaurant for London Telegraph.
“The recognition we have received from so many of our guests for an atmosphere that we have created, an effort we have made to prepare meals and a high standard of service is incredible,” he pointed out.
