IMAX and renowned cruise line operator Carnival have unveiled the world’s first IMAX Theatre at a sea. The theater will be part of Carnival’s new monster ship, dubbed the Carnival Vista, which is set to sail sail in Spring 2016. This company’s most innovative and the largest ship in the fleet will host IMAX screen three decks high, providing guests with the most immersive cinematic experience. Guest will enjoy Hollywood blockbusters, documentaries and IMAX classics. Next doorto the IMAX will be the Thrill Theater offering a ‘multi-dimensional’ cinematic experience, complete with special effects. In true theater fashion, the place will be outfitted with a concession stand offering popcorn and other movie snacks.
Also, innovation at the sea will be an open-air cycling attraction. SkyRide will be perfect place for adventure-seekers to climb aboard hanging recumbent-like bikes and pedal their way around an 800-foot (244-meter) suspended track with panoramic views, 150 feet (46 meters) above sea level. Nearby, the Skycourse is a suspended ropes course that also challenges guests to work for their views.
Carnival Vista’s water park will also feature a Kaleid-O-Slide, the company’s first water tube attraction that takes riders on inflatable rafts down a series of twists and turns, and ‘kaleidoscopic visual effects.’
With a capacity of 3,936, the Carnival Vista will debut May 1, 2016 and serve a Mediterranean itinerary with port of calls throughout Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, and Turkey to start.
