What you can do with an old cluster bomb? You, probably nothing, but brothers Ben and Harry Tucker from Bath, Somerset (Fallen Furniture), turned it into luxury piece of furniture. They used the 600lbs RAF bomb from the 1970s and make it into extraordinary design. Standing more than eight feet tall and weighing 600 pounds, the mirror-polished Cluster Bomb Drinks Cabinet took six months to make.
Behind the gleaming missile fuselage, three glass shelves revolve around a gold-plated spindle; while in the base, a sliding platform built from lacquered American walnut conceals an armoury of custom-made cocktail utensils. With its potent fusion of industrial heritage and high-end craftsmanship, this breathtaking cabinet is without equal. No wonder, why it sells for a whopping £50,000 ($76,000).
The brothers have also created a table made from the emergency escape door of an Airbus A320, a bar made from a plane’s engine cowling, the huge – six feet tall lamp made from the engine exhaust of a BAE 146 short-haul airliner, and a clock made from the fuselage of a Boeing 747. Their next project is going to be an enormous speaker from a jumbo jet exhaust cone.
