Courchevel is a ski resort located in the French Alps in the well known Tarentaise Valley (Rhône-Alpes region). It is part of Les Trois Vallées, which makes up the largest linked ski area in the world. When talking about skiing, the boring thing is if you must go all the way down to the village to eat. Luckily, there’s the Cave des Creux, great restaurant opened in December 2013 by a couple of ski instructors on top of what was once a shelter for shepherds and their flocks.
Situated 2112 meters above sea level on the ski slopes of Courchevel 1850, the Cave des Creux (the Cave Hollow) offers stunning views of Mont Blanc and the Courchevel valley. This former alpine cheese ripening cellar has been converted into a restaurant, where skiers can enjoy a warm and friendly mountain atmosphere.
Every day from early December to late April, this restaurant offers a selection of local specialties, meat, fish, and a wine list that will delight connoisseurs. Inside, you can have lunch around the central fireplace and discover the authentic decoration which combines a mixture of mountain and industrial styles. Also, there’s a large sun terrace facing south, with breathtaking views.
