During SIHH in Geneva, Ralph Lauren unveiled the RL Automotive Skeleton watch, based on the designer’s most prized collector’s item, the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, worth about $40 million. This watch is the latest in a series of truly stunning luxury watches – the ‘automotive collection’, a collection of timepieces which demonstrates the connection between two world: watchmaking and antique automobiles.
RL Automotive Skeleton is carefully matched to the vehicle that inspire it, meaning this watch features a display encircled with Amboyna burl wood, a material commonly used in the instrument panels of luxury vehicles in the 1930s.
Also, the watch features an open-worked, hand-wound RL1967 movement, steel and brass gear elements, black oxidised hands, a large balance, and a black shot-blasted stainless steel case.
Ralph Lauren RL Automotive Skeleton is expected to be available soon for a rumored price of $35,000.
