According to the Wall Street Journal, this 25 acre estate in Dallas’ prestigious Preston Hollow neighborhood is now listed at $100 million. It belonges to businessman and former Texas Rangers owner, Tom Hicks. It is the first time this property has been listed publicly. It was listed for $135 million in 2013, and now it has been listed for $100 million, making it the most expensive real estate property in the city.
Tom and Cinda Hicks bought the property in 1997 from the Crespi family of Italy. While the architectural essence of the house remains Italian, the Hicks upgraded and renovated it to make it look contemporary. This massive estate encompasses 35,725-square-feet of air-conditioned living space, including a four-story main home with seven bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, four half-baths, a two-story guest house, and a separate staff wing. Additionally, there also is a two-storey guesthouse, caretaker’s home and a heli pad.
The other features include a 4,836 sq ft recreation complex with an 18-seat movie theatre and an entertainment area with a wet bar and a 25 to 30 ft pool.
To suite the global palette of the home buyers, there is a world-class kitchen that has a $65,000 custom French range.
The 500-wine bottle storage, the stone work from a quarry in Europe and 1820s French panelling in the library reflect the house’s European accents. Additionally, the house even has a sports-themed room with the walls adorned with signed jerseys from Hicks’ teams.
The property is located in the prime area of the city, giving company to the other expensive homes. Former President W George Bush and wife Laura also have a place in the vicinity.
