After working with Reed Krakoff , Lanvin, Christian Louboutin , more recently, Emilio Pucci, this season Ladurée has opted to work with Japanese jeweler Mikimoto, creator of cultured pearls since 1893. The result of their collaboration is the epitome of both French and Japanese elegance – a bridal and pearl inspired collection for Spring 2015.
Both brands have a long history of world-class creativity and fine craftsmanship, and the two have come together to “marry” the leader of macarons with the leader of pearls. As a tribute to Mikimoto’s speciality in pearl jewellery, this stunning collection include a beautiful pastel pink gift box adorned with an elegant set of pearls and a bow, and the choux pastry tower dessert. Inside the box, you’ll find a specially created macaron, called the Mikimoto Pearly – a rose lychee flavoured macaron.
The exquisite macaron tower combines the delicate flavors of roses and lychees, which serves as the cream filling the desserts. Each macaron is coated with an iridescent sheen, expressing the radiance of jewelry, and is decorated with a tiny nonpareil pearl. This tower is so special and exclusive, pricing information is provided only upon request.
Mikimoto by Ladurée Collection will be available from April 22 onwards. The 8-piece box set costs 3,500 yen (around $29), while a single Mikimoto will cost 274 yen ($2.30).
