One of the rarest BMW cars will soon find a new owner at auction. It is interesting that the new owner will have to give a small fortune for a model that is not fully work of Bavarian engineers. BMW-Glas “3000” V8 Fastbreak, in late May, will be offered on the auction, and it is normal that auction for a German car from 1967 attract a lot of buyers.
“Glas” was a small independent German company whose humble beginnings were attached to tiny “Goggomobil”. Thier production were enriched by models “1300GT” from 1964 and later with the “1700GT” which was designed by the famous Italian Pietro Frua. However, when they got into financial trouble, “Glas” has fell under the ownership of BMW in September 1966.
Then they created this model “3000 V8 Fastbreak” which got the nickname “Glaserati” because of its great similarity with Maserati “Quattroprote” model. Only 418 copies were made in the period from September 1967 to May 1968.
