What could be better than mix of social media and shopping? Fashion retailer Net-a-Porter is launching its own mobile-app-based social network for fashion fans. Called The Net Set, this new fashion-friendly social network app allows consumers to scroll through a feed of their favorite Net-a-Porter products, recommend products to friends, upload images and shop for more than 350 of the most-sought-after fashion collections. The company’s image-recognition software will analyze the images and find the closest match in Net-a-Porter’s inventory, then offer it up to users for purchase.
Once users create a profile, they can also amass followers (called “admirers”) who can comment on a user’s public purchases and style inspirations.
The initial launch of the app will happen on May 13 and will be available on iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch.
