With the debut of Jaguar’s sensational new XKE at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar had once again proven it could build an incredibly beautiful performance car. The E-Type was the culmination of lessons learned from the XK 120 through 150 series cars, as well as from racing the revolutionary D-Type sports racer. The E-Type masterfully mixed speed with precise handling, comfort and grip.
This E-Type is finished in the stunning color combination of dark blue with red interior and has been the subject of recent restoration work. A Jaguar specialist completed a full restoration a few years ago and the car has since undergone a comprehensive service during the ownership of the consignor. The dark blue soft-top and chrome wire wheels add to the striking presentation. This is the ideal E-Type Roadster to drive and enjoy, and combines the best aspects of the Series I and II.
Estimated to fetch $220,000 – $280,000, the car will be offered by Auctions America at its Santa Monica sale on Saturday, July 18, 2015.
