OPA, a Greek architecture firm presents conceptual cliffside Casa Brutale – a chameleonic living space that teeters on the high cliffs above the Aegean Sea. Billed as “a geometrical translation of the landscape” and “an uncladded statement on the simplicity and harmony of contemporary architecture,” Casa Brutale is made entirely of glass, concrete, and wood putting the focus on the landscape and ocean. The roof of Casa Brutale, a glazed bottom swimming pool, is a continuation of the poetic Aegean Sea and in perfect communication with the vast blue of the Greek sky.

Fifty stairs take homeowners downwards into the house, at the bottom of which is a tall, rotating door of aged wood. Internally, the rest of the home is bare, open, and simple.Aa cast concrete dining table is accompanied by a matching set of concrete benches, topped with a seating surface of wood. Behind the seats, is a sculpturesque fireplace. Behind the dining table, the guest room is formed under an old-fashioned Zoellner slab with a glass corner. Next to the guest room, there is a small passage to the utility rooms (storage room, bathroom and WC).
OPA’s Casa Brutale
A thin steel staircase leads you to the mezzanine floor, where the master bedroom is exposed to the same overpowering vision of the Aegean. The bed is cast of concrete with wood finishing, while the walls are covered with mirror to enhance the play between light and shadows.
According to OPA, Casa Brutale redefines the harmonious coexistence of human and nature in a poetic homage to pure Brutalism.
