James Bond is been doing all of the possible to the impossible. He only did not sing. Until now. Ian Fleming’s 007 superspy is the subject of a developing stage musical. Bond film producer Harry Saltzman’s daughter Merry secured the rights and will be executive producer of the stage production. The show aims to debut either on Broadway or in Las Vegas, with an opening tentatively scheduled for late 2017 or early 2018.
The production will include an original storyline and “our own Bond girl,” said its producers, but still cater to the franchise’s fans by featuring “several Bond villains, plus some new ones.” It will provisionally be titled: ‘James Bond: The Musical’ and will be written by novelist Dave Clarke, best known for his romance mystery ‘Keeping Hannah Waiting’.
The music and lyrics will be by songwriter and composer Jay Henry Weisz, who has described his style as ‘folk rock’ and said he is inspired by Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
