This season, for Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture, Christian Louboutin collaborated with renowned contemporary couture designer, Ulyana Sergeenko. Sergeenko’s Fall/Winter ‘15 collection tells the story of her native Saint Petersburg and the communal Soviet-era apartments she grew up in. The interiors of these dwellings served as her provenance, exemplified in pieces such as a fur coat tufted like a sofa and a fully embroidered dress with a lampshade hem.
The hallmark of Sergeenko’s collections is always exquisite craftsmanship; this time was no exception—with delicate handwork seen throughout, from hand-placed crystals to intricate lace bibs and sumptuous fur coats that make you yearn for a Russian winter to spend them in. Fur pompoms scattered throughout the entirety of the collection were echoed on the custom made Christian Louboutin shoes.
Silver Youpi 120 in mirrored calf specchio leather and the brand new Dorissima 120 in black were adorned at the toe with a single fluffy mink pompom. From head-to-toe, Sergeenko’s display was a magnificent ode to old world nostalgia and the opulence that is Haute Couture.
