What do you get when you pair music, architecture and sport? Well, you’ll get the “Artwork” collection of Superstar sneakers. Musician Pharrell Williams collaborated with Iraqi-born British architect Zaha Hadid to create her own white “Supershell” design. Using the legendary Adidas Superstar as the canvas, the men’s shoe showcases a one-of-a-kind work of art of Pharrell’s favorite artists.
“I’m a huge fan of Zaha’s, I’ve always been,” said Williams in a promotional video for the new trainers. “I would venture to say that she’s one of the most talented architects of our time, and of history in my opinion with the kinds shapes and the kinds of structures that she transcribes from her minds imagination. I think that Zaha’s designs are just like her buildings, they augment reality forever.”
This partnership is part of “Artwork” collection that also feature designs by New York City-based contemporary artist Todd James, Japanese contemporary artist Mr. (a former protégé of Takashi Murakami) and New York City-based artist, photographer and director Cass Bird, and will be up for a very limited release, in different parts of the world.
