There’s a plenty of hotels designed for a specific group of clients. The latest one is every bibliophile’s dream. Now that “B&B” has evolved to “book and bed”. Nestled in one of Tokyo’s suburbs, Book and Bed is a new library hotel that will open its doors to guests in a few weeks. It is designed by Suppose Design Office (Makoto Tanijiri and Ai Yoshida) and with book selections by Shibuya Publishing & Booksellers, one of the leading Tokyo’s publishing houses.

Guests will spend the night in a communal room that is designed like a library or book shop. But don’t expect any privacy, since there are no rooms. Instead, guests sleep in small capsules or bunks that are built into wooden shelves filled with literary classics. This means the “hotel” may well be more like a “hostel”.
Visitors can reserve for one night or even just spend some time catching up on reading during the day. No word on rates either, though, since it’s located in Ikebukuro, a commercial and entertainment district in the Tokyo suburb of Toshima, we assume a stay at Book and Bed Tokyo won’t be too expensive.
