Bonham auction house which selling this car says that this car from the sixties is when Keith Richards had a need for a car that, at the right way, announcing the arrival of a star. This probably sounds strange, especially at that time, when ownership and identification with this car, would have been probably a totally counter productive for a rock star. But Keith Richards in 1965 bought this car and called it the ‘Blue Lena‘, by legendary jazz musicians, Lena Horne.
The car was reportedly modified and has a secret compartment in which Keith Richards could probably save the things that is known immediately after the music.
And this is not a legend, but it is even a chapter in his biography dedicated to it. “My dark blue Bentley, my S3 Continental Flying Spur—an automobile of some rarity, one of a limited edition of 87. Having this car was already heading for trouble, breaking the rules of the establishment, driving a car I was definitely not born into. ‘Blue Lena‘ had carried us on many an acid-fueled journey.”
He used the car to travel with the Brian Jones and Anita Pallenberg his girlfriend. During the trip, Jones was hospitalized for pneumonia and left Keith with his then girlfriend, which ended with a long-standing relationship of Keith and her, which lasted for 23 years.
