It’s not every day that after more than four decades a car manufacturer decides to return to the range one of its most attractive models. That is exactly what Mercedes will do in the upcoming Motor Show, scheduled for the second half of September, to be held at home ground in Frankfurt. One of the stars of this event will definitely be a new Mercedes S-Class Convertible.
Before it, the German manufacturer had last in offer a Convertible version of its most luxurious models in the period from 1961 to 1971.
This car was exceptional in its time, and ahead of its launch the company has announced that they want to make “the most comfortable car with the open top in the world.”
After half a century, comes its successor, based on the current Mercedes S-Class Coupe. The new Convertible will have a folding fabric roof, designed to mimics the lines of a Coupe with its shape.
The engines will be taken from the Coupe. Power will be transmitted as standard to the rear wheels, and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive will be available as an option.
Later will be available and the most powerful AMG models – the S63 and S65.
