Chicago Athletic Association is an historic 1890’s monument transformed into an incomparable Chicago boutique hotel with commanding views across Millennium and Maggie DaleyParks to Lake Michigan. After two years of restoration, this historic, exclusive men’s club back to life as a 241-room hotel mecca for inspired recreation – where the spirit of play reigns supreme, and food and drink are served up by some of Chicago’s finest talent.
The restoration was completed by a partnership between AJ Capital Partners, Geolo Capital, Agman Partners, Commune Hotels & Resorts, Chicago-based Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and design firm Roman & Williams Buildings and Interiors.
Originally designed by architect Henry Ives Cobb in 1893, the Venetian Gothic 250-foot tower, deemed a Chicago landmark, was designed to give the Chicago Athletic Association a distinctive identity when viewed from the lakefront by visitors to the Chicago World’s Fair.
Today, Chicago Athletic’s past lives on amid restaurants, lounges and ballrooms where a high-spirited, club-like atmosphere prevails, seamlessly melding into shared histories, past and future. The new hotel features 17,000 square feet of event space, guest rooms and suites, an interactive game room, retail shops and restaurants including a rooftop bar with views of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park; restaurants by Chicago-based Land & Sea Department (Longman & Eagle); and a Shake Shack by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality.
