When read Ermenegildo Zegna, it is understood Made in Italy. But now, with the aim to highlight Japan’s craftsmanship and draw in new customers, Ermenegildo Zegna has dropped its first-ever Made In Japan collection. Made up of 22 distinct pieces, the limited edition line will be produced in the Land of the Rising Sun by local artisans. With Made in Japan project, Ermenegildo Zegna enhances the Japanese heritage in fabric development and fashion-making, merging a unique savoir faire with Italian design in an impactful statement of borderless style.
The idea is to combine the Ermenegildo Zegna Couture ethos with traditional Japanese know-how by creating an exclusive Limited Edition Collection designed by Stefano Pilati and made in Japan, by local artisans, using Japanese fabrics and techniques. Five charismatic personalities have been chosen for the project, their portraits taken by renowned contemporary photographer Takashi Homma, who, exclusively for Zegna, produced a lively photographic document that visually narrates the Made in Japan idea from multiple perspectives.
Zegna’s New Made In Japan capsule collection will go on sale Saturday at Zegna’s Ginza store, before heading to the brand’s Osaka location on October 1.
Certain pieces from the collection will make their way to other stores around the world later in the year.
