When you’re a wealthy Arab, you can afford £48.5million ($74,45 million) birthday cake. Yes, that’s world’s most expensive cake commissioned by a wealthy Arab family for a birthday party. The cake was created by Haute couturier Debbie Wingham globally renowned for her beautiful and extravagant gowns (she created £11.5million – world’s most expensive dress). Wingham’s cake is very true to the fashionista that she is and it’s actually a 6 ft. long runway cake, the models on the runway are very long, lean and elegant. The garments on the runway resemble Wingham’s couture clothing, the edible version of Wingham’s signature style is captured with the fluid looking gowns and the strong adornments.
Many of the details were added because they were subtle nods to the clients’ interests like favorite publications and certain members in the audience were family members and close family friends. Several of the models were also wearing gowns that were edible versions of pieces that Wingham had previously made for the client.
All in all, this magnificent cake is totally edible and features 4,000 real diamonds.
It has over 265 lbs of fondant icing and 130 lbs of modelling chocolate which is predominately used for sculpting along with 80 different airbrushed colors and effects. The cake weighs a staggering 992 pounds, which is the equivalent weight of a male grizzly bear. Every part of the cake was hand sculpted and took over 1,100 hours to make.
