French leather goods brand Louis Vuitton sailed in the rugby pitch through a first time collaboration. Together with World Rugby, Louis Vuitton has created a bespoke case to hold the Webb Ellis Cup, rugby’s greatest prize. The leather carrying case , holding the Rugby World Cup’s trophy, will be presented to the winning team at the final match of the Rugby World Cup 2015 on Oct. 31 in Twickenham, England. The case has been hand-made at the brand’s Asnières workshop near Paris, featuring the designer’s iconic Monogram canvas and brass locks. The case opens from the front and at the top in order to easily remove the sterling silver and gold-plate trophy.

World Rugby chairman Bernard Lapasset said that the cup is: “a symbol of unity, enjoyment, participation and excellence. We are excited about our collaboration with a fashion house as renowned as Louis Vuitton and delighted with the stunning, modern-classic case.”
Louis Vuitton isn’t rookie in the sporty trophy field. The same workshop also made the trunk that holds the world’s oldest sporting trophy, the America Cup’s silver ewer, which dates to 1851, as well as the trophy case for the 2014 FIFA World Cup trophy.
