Drinks by the Dram has announced the launch of the world’s first Chilli Vodka Advent Calendar. Behind each of its 24 doors is a different 30ml sample of chilli vodka, escalating in heat over the course of December from 10,000 Scovilles, to an unbearably hot 240,000 Scovilles – approximately 100 times hotter than Tabasco Sauce – on Christmas Eve. The vodka, created specially for the calendar by The ‘Hot Enough’ Vodka Co., was described by Phillip Schofield on ITV’s This Morning as “unbelievable”.
It is made using nothing but pure wheat spirit and Naga Jolokia chillies which are so intense they are used by the Indian armed forces as a key ingredient in their chilli-based tear gas grenades.
In rank defiance of the festive spirit, each calendar is adorned with artwork created by Australian artist Nick Sheehy, depicting a hellish scene of mutant beast skeletons, with dangling human skulls in place of traditional Christmas baubles.
The award-winning vodka is the world’s hottest, and has received wide acclaim as well as being featured on national television and in the Telegraph and the Daily Mail as well as being featured as a Firebox challenge.
Drinks by the Dram have also released a range of other Advent calendars featuring such favourites as Scotch Whisky, Rum, Gin, Bourbon, Armagnac, Vodka, Mezcal and even Absinthe.
