Even student accommodation isn’t what it used to be. One 19-year-old American student in London has rented a student flat for £21,000 per month. The student is set to pay £5,250 a week (£252,000 per year) for the three-bedroom apartment in Mayfair. The lavish apartment on Park Lane is one of six luxury apartments in the Fountain Block overlooking Hyde Park. Some of the perks of the apartments include stone flooring, walk-in wardrobes, stone worktops in the kitchen, and a free-standing bath.

Other five are two-bedroom apartments ranging from 1,600 sq ft. to over 2,000 sq ft. in size with interiors designed by Alexander James whose portfolio includes Sunseeker yachts, country houses and luxury London homes. They rent for £2,250 per week, or £108,000 per year.
The Fountain House – refurbished building developed by Criterion Capital has a pillared main entrance foyer with 16 ft. high ceiling, a manned hotel-style concierge desk, and a 24-hour porter service.

The development is being marketed by estate agent Peter Wetherell, who expects them all to be let for the new academic year. The Wetherell agency has sent details of the properties to its database of international students, and so far 80% of inquiries have come from overseas.
