Looking for something special, so scary and bloodcurdling this Halloween? What do you think to spend a night in the world’s largest grave – Paris’ famous catacombs, the final resting place of 6 million souls? Airbnb is running a contest that will give two lucky people the chance to experience this unusual journey in the bowels of Paris! Those lucky and brave enough will get a “real bed”, dinner with private concert and breakfast.
“Before bedtime, a storyteller will have you spellbound with fascinating tales from the catacombs, guaranteed to produce nightmares. Finally, enjoy dawn with the dead, as you become the only living person ever to wake up in the Paris catacombs.”
For an unforgettable Halloween, you just have to tell the host before midnight October 20th why you think you’re brave enough to sleep in the catacombs.
The prize is open to couples and friends, 2 people maximum.
The catacombs, 20 meters under the sewer and Metro, lures some 500,000 visitors a year. It has already been rented out to film crews and for fashion shows. For centuries, this place have been an oasis of peace, silence, and permanent slumber for the Who’s Who of Paris, hosting celebrities like Francois Rabelais, Jean de la Fontaine, Charles Perrault, Lavoisier, and Robespierre. Also, Charles X, Francois 1er and even Napoleon the 3rd were prestigious royal visitors.
