Chinese Geely has released basic details about new London taxi model, TX5, which will be on the streets of the British capital from 2017. What is interesting is that the TX5 has a plug-in hybrid drive system, which will come together with a four-cylinder gasoline engine, and will also be possible driving only on electric drive. The car will be able to accommodate a total of six people and will have facilitated access for wheelchairs. It should be noted that the design of this model is inspired by the FX4 from 1958.
The platform is developed by London Taxi Company from Coventry (whose owner is a Chinese Geely), and it should be noted that the investment is worth about 250 Million pounds. Part of that amount is intended for the construction of a new factory that will produce around 36,000 vehicles per year.
