RK Motors Charlotte announced that Mercedes-Benz SL300 Gullwing from 1954 was sold at auction for $1.9 million. In that company claim that this is the largest sum paid for a 1954 Gullwing since 2012, when the Barrett Jackson sold a similar copy for $ 2.2 million. The vehicle with some interesting Canadian provenance otherwise has been driven for over 45,000 miles (72,405 km), and during the nineties it underwent a minor restoration which included a fresh lick of paint and some re-appointments throughout the interior to make it look as new as possible.
At RK Motors’ most recent auction, it was sold with the original belly pans, books, tools and the optional Nardi steering wheels.
