Andy Warhol’s former estate overlooking the ocean at the very tip of the Hamptons in Montauk has been sold for $50 million, believed to be a record for the former fishing village. Adam Lindemann, founder of the gallery Venus Over Manhattan and a “Warhol collector,” bought the 5.7-acre estate from the current owner, J.Crew CEO Millard Drexler. Drexler bought the property in 2007 for $27.5 million.

The 1930s-era Montauk compound is called “Eothen,” meaning “from the east,” and features a 3,800-square-foot main house and five cottages, a swimming pool, and a tennis court amid the 5.7-acre property. A 24-acre horse farm was also listed with the property for $85 million, but Lindemann opted out of purchasing the farm.
Over the years, a number of celebrities graced the compound, including the Rolling Stones, John Lennon, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Elizabeth Taylor.
