Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato from 1962, produced in only 19 copies, exceeded these days record by becoming the most expensive Aston Martin ever sold, at RM Sotheby’s auction at the price of £9.5 million ($14.17 million). This DB4GT Zagato which has been sold – 14th of total 19 produced – was delivered to the owner in Australia in 1962, and has successfully participated in the race, was sold a year later and then again in 1968.
In 1993, the car was ‘returned’ to the UK, where it was made smaller restorations before being acquired by Peter Reid, who was selected by Richard S. Williams and Carrozzeria Zagato to perform a complete restoration. Back in as-new condition, the Zagato then embarked on the Concours Circuit, where it won top honours from Villa d’Este to Pebble Beach, with its final outing at The Quail in 2013.
