New York fashion label 3sixteen has teamed up with Herman Miller on limited edition furniture collection. Together, they’ve created a custom version of the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, first introduced in 1956.
The custom sets feature a natural vegetable-tanned leather upholstery that will darken over time paired with a hand-oiled santos palisander wood veneer shell.
The color harkens back to Eames’ original idea to design a chair that looked like “a well-used first baseman’s mitt.” Given that the leather was chosen precisely because it will exhibit “drastic wear” over time, each will develop a patina that make it unlike any other Eames.
Unfortunately, only three sets were made, and they’re not currently for sale.
